Food notes:

This was the weekend of extremely improvisational cooking. First, I decided that the thing to do with the guavas I got from my CSA was to make sorbet from them. Unfortunately, four guavas aren't really enough to make a proper batch of sorbet, so I rummaged through my kitchen to see what else I could throw in. I had:

a honeydew melon
some strawberry margharita mix
Midori liqueur
Fresh limes
tequila

I'm calling the result Tropical Margharita Sorbet. It's very very tasty, but unfortunately you can barely taste the guavas, as the other flavors kinda overwhelm them. Next time, I'll either increase the guava-to-melon ratio, or get some guava nectar at the supermarket and add it to the mix.

Then I needed to make dinner, preferably with leftovers, from the rest of the CSA box contents and whatever I had sitting around in my fridge and pantry. I had:

Onion
garlic
some really nice green beans
some REALLY nice heirloom tomatoes
a package of spicy chorizo sausage
canned cannellini beans
vegetable stock
red wine
tomato paste
assorted spices

I know have a great big pot of very tasty soup. With all the salad greens I also have sitting around, I'm set for dinner for a few days.

So, I don't really know what I can say that wasn't in my requests. As you can see, I have pretty eclectic taste. All of these are stories that I've wanted for a while, that I've toyed with writing myself and any one of them would make me ecstatically happy.

I like deep and plotty, I like light and smutty and every combination therof. I like kink, but not everything needs to be kinky. I like all genres. I'm pretty openminded.

1. Oh my god, you guys, SO MUCH PAPER. So, so much paper. It's like Office Depot threw up on my living room floor. I really need to stop getting behind on my grading - I'm an English teacher, it takes me a decent amount of time just to read through all the stuff I assign, let alone actually grade it. FML.

2. I spent a hour doing parent phone calls this afternoon. It was both awesome and horrible. It was awesome because I love talking to parents and keeping them updated on what's going on, but it also lets me know how many kids haven't been taking their parents the letters I've sent home. Boo hiss, babies!

3. My ELMO came last week! I'm still working on procuring a projector for it, but once I do, it is on.

4. I have a plane ticket! I'm gonna be in New York City from Friday, 11/20 until Wednesday, 11/25. I'm spending Thanksgiving with B and his family in upstate NY, but I wanted to make sure I saw people in the city when I had the time off to do so. I posted about it last time, but if there's anyone who didn't get back to me on the last post, if you want to see me while I'm in the city, let me know! I'm so excited to see amireal and notpoetry and torisaurusrex - any of my Liverpool people who want to hang out and commiserate on the shitshow that is our season, I'd totally be up for that.

5. Colts won AGAIN. It's so nice to have at least one team who isn't breaking my fucking heart. Very much appreciated, Indy. <3

6. You guys, I really miss being in college. I hope those of you who are currently in college are appreciating it, because being an adult is hard.
